The Deputy Commander of the Kano State Hisbah Board, Sheikh Mujahideen Aminuddeen, has clarified that the state's mass wedding programme is open to both Muslims and Christians who wish to participate.
Speaking with the News Agency of Nigeria in Kano, Aminuddeen explained that the initiative is designed to support eligible individuals seeking to establish stable families, regardless of their religious affiliation.
He stated that while the programme is coordinated by the Hisbah Board, interested Christians are also welcome to take part, provided they meet the stipulated requirements and conditions set by the organisers.
According to him, the mass wedding scheme is intended to reduce the financial burden associated with marriage ceremonies and promote social stability by helping intending couples begin married life on a solid foundation.
Aminuddeen further noted that participants must satisfy certain eligibility criteria, including verification of their marital status, health requirements, and other guidelines established to ensure the success of the programme.
The Kano mass wedding initiative has, over the years, supported thousands of couples across the state, receiving commendation for its role in strengthening family values and assisting less-privileged citizens in fulfilling their aspirations of marriage.
The clarification that the programme accommodates both Muslims and Christians underscores its broader social objective of inclusivity and community development, reflecting efforts to foster unity and provide support to all qualified residents irrespective of faith.
More details on participation requirements and application procedures are expected to be made available by the organisers.
