PFIPC Scandal: NDC Demands Gbajabiamila’s Removal, Calls for Independent Investigation

The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has called for the immediate removal of the Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, over allegations linking him to the controversial Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC), an agency the Presidency insists does not officially exist.

In a statement issued on Friday by its National Publicity Secretary, Osa Director, the opposition party expressed concern over what it described as serious questions surrounding transparency, accountability, and governance within the current administration. The party alleged that the purported PFIPC received allocations in the 2026 budget and reportedly operated multiple financial accounts, including domiciliary, Pound Sterling, and Treasury Single Accounts with the Central Bank of Nigeria, despite official denials of its existence.
The NDC further questioned reports that more than 300 staff positions were allegedly approved for the council, arguing that such administrative actions could not have occurred without the knowledge of top government officials. The party also referenced claims made by Prince Mathew Adeniyi Adeyemi, who identifies himself as the Director-General of the PFIPC, alleging financial transactions and irregularities connected to the establishment and operations of the body.
Describing the allegations as grave and deserving of urgent national attention, the NDC called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to constitute an independent panel to investigate all aspects of the controversy. The party also urged anti-corruption agencies, including the EFCC, ICPC, and the Nigeria Police Force, to launch comprehensive investigations and ensure that anyone found culpable faces the full weight of the law.

Meanwhile, the Presidency has maintained that the PFIPC is a non-existent entity and has dismissed claims made by Adeyemi, insisting that investigations had earlier revealed alleged cases of forgery, impersonation, and the operation of unauthorized government structures. The administration has reaffirmed its position that no such agency exists under the current government.
