Armed gunmen have abducted a 60-year-old headmaster, Mr. Matthew Kolawale Owoade, popularly known as Onaiye, in Itesiwaju Local Government Area of Oyo State.
The victim, who heads Nomadic Basic School, Igbojaye, was reportedly kidnapped on Saturday evening while returning from his farm in the Budo Aare area. According to family members, the abductors later contacted them using the victim's mobile phone and demanded ₦30 million for his release.
A search party reportedly recovered the victim's abandoned motorcycle in a nearby bush on Sunday morning, raising concerns over his whereabouts and safety.
The victim's family has appealed to the Nigerian Army, the Police, the Department of State Services (DSS), Amotekun Corps, local hunters, vigilantes, and other security agencies to intensify efforts to secure his safe release.
The Oyo State Police Command has confirmed the incident, stating that efforts are ongoing to rescue the headmaster unharmed and bring the kidnappers to justice.
